Volunteer Position

Visitor Co-ordinator for the Buckingham Archdeaconry Clergy Charity The Archdeacon of Buckingham’s Clergy Charity is a small Charity set up to provide financial support to clergy in the Archdeaconry, also their widows in times of need.  The Trustees comprise the Archdeacon of Buckingham, the Bishop of Buckingham and three Lay members.  Whilst the needs of the clergy are generally well known to the Archdeacon, the clergy widows are personally visited by lay people in order to provide both pastoral support and to establish if the Charity can help with any specific significant financial issue. Currently there are six visitors based in different parts of the county who have been co-ordinated on a voluntary basis by a Visitor Co-ordinator for more than a decade.  The Co-odinator now wishes to relinquish the voluntary Co-ordinator's role though will continue to visit a small number of clergy widows.  The Trustees are therefore looking for someone to continue with this valuable work.  Specifically, this entails the responsibility...

Messy Church – 12th July

Now that public worship is once again allowed, we are delighted to announce that we will be holding a Messy Church this Sunday (July 12th) at 4pm until 4.30 Of course, it won’t be able to look the same as we will still need to follow social distancing guidelines. Instead it will look like this: Book your place on Facebook by saying "I'm going" to the event (as we can only safely fit 10 households (or bubbles) in the space) Turn up at Chearsley Village Hall, with a picnic blanket, a tray (you will need a flat surface) a sharp knife (for cutting an apple) and a small snack to eat during the blessing at the end We will have prepared “craft bags” 3 days in advance and positioned them socially distanced on the grass Pick up one of the craft bags and lay out your picnic blanket in its place, ensuring that you are 2m from the next household. Please stay...

Children’s Prayer

This is a prayer that the 7-8 year olds at Cuddington and Dinton School helped to write. I thought you might like to read it. Thank you God for change, it helps us grow. We know things happen when we are not expecting them, but we always learn from them. Change often happens when you are not ready for it. You need to stay calm and take a deep breath because change can be good, Lord help us to stay calm. Sometimes we worry about change and this worrying can be unhelpful. Worries feel like a jumble in your head. Help us to remember that worries are often just inside your head and you need to let them float away on a cloud. We are thankful for the time we have spent with our families and we are grateful for how hard every one has tried to make things as normal as possible. Amen...

Saturday – Family Fun Ideas

Saturday - when Jesus body lay in the tomb Activity: wrap someone in toilet paper, but be sure to save it for use later!  Think how Jesus’ body and cloth was anointed in a lot of oils and spices and how the women at the tomb, discovered the grave clothes left behind, with the head cloth folded up neatly.  For older children – tell them about the shroud of Turin that some people believe is the actual cloth that wrapped Jesus.   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pt_92yHPSug Activity: Resurrection Roll – anoint a marshmallow in spices, wrap it in puff pastry burial clothes, then put it in the tomb (oven).   When you take it out, Jesus’ body will have disappeared! Discuss: What do you think Jesus was doing on the Saturday?   Lying dead in the tomb?  Already resurrected and getting healed by angels?  Getting a big hug from his father?...

Friday – Family Fun Ideas

Good Friday - the day Jesus was crucified Activity: make this crown of thorns bracelet from wire and string.  Can you wear it until Easter Sunday? Activity: Bang some nails into a piece of wood, in the shape of a cross, then thread some wool around the nails. Activity: Paint your hands red and make a handprint cross on a big piece of paper.  Think about how we would have been the crowd shouting “crucify him”, so his death would have been on our hands. Discuss: Why do you think we call it Good Friday?...
